A story about every mom’s fantasy。 Sweet characters, gentle plot。 I won this in a giveaway, and may not have picked it up at random。 Enjoyable。

This was a nice, relaxing book。 Amelia is divorced and she and her two children move into a home with a strict neighborhood enforcement community。 She deals with the kids and school, friends and the community watch and trying to make time for herself。 The kids do not miss their father as he never spent time with them。 Amelia is likeable and makes it easy to slip into her shoes。 I thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review。

Single mother against the world。 While I could not relate to being a mother I did emphasize with her homeowner association issues。 Great friend relationships。 Sweet, clean romance。 Fun banter。 It was an engaging and enjoyable read。 Grateful to have won this book via Goodreads。

Such a good read。 Fresh, stand up for your own, love and more。 I loved this book from beginning to end。

This was awful。 Boring。 Vapid。 Plotless。 My fault for picking it up based on the cover - I thought it was going to be hijinks but I was wrong。 I skipped 10 chapters in the middle and missed exactly zero plot points。

This rom-com didn’t work for me – it may be partly because of the voice of the narrator which was OTT and sounded cheesy to me!!Amelia and her two young children have just moved back to Houston after her husband cheated on her and the divorce has finalized (nothing new here)。Houston is home base for Amelia as her parents and numerous friends live there。 However her subdivision is a new one and she hasn’t had much chance to meet the neighbors, etc。Her first encounter with neighbors – an Easter egg hunt organized by the community, helps her meet some nice people。 This is also the funniest part of the book which includes an Easter bunny with his foot stuck in a mop/bucket!! I laughed at this part! However, just when she is feeling that all may go well, Carla, the HOA representative tells her that her garden gnome is not allowed according to the by-laws。 This isn’t just any gnome, it’s one that her children painted for her and she promised them that it would be placed in the front yard of their new home。It’s the forthcoming “gnome war” which propels this story forward。 She has help from her friends and finds that the President of the HOA, Kyle Sanders, is no fan of Carla。 In fact most of the residents have had to deal with her snarky letters, mean and nasty comments and spying around to find violations, etc to be insufferable。PROS:I admired Amelia for realizing that sometimes the little wars do matter, especially when your children have been abandoned by their father and they have just moved, changed schools etc。I liked the relationship between Amelia and Kyle, both of them gun-shy from prior relationships。 Kyle seriously enjoys playing with the kids and seems an all around good guyCarla will finally meet her match, and it may be time for her to move on and annoy another subdivision。CONS: While Amelia works from home, she seems to have an inordinate amount of time to invest in her “gnome war”。 There is definitely an OTT feel to the way in which Amelia handles this by-law infraction, I kept thinking, why not just move the gnome to the backyard? The narrator’s voice definitely was annoying。 It was nasal and didn’t show much change in emotion。If mommy rom-com is your thing then you may enjoy this one。 I would recommend reading this one instead of listening to it。Thanks to my local library and Hoopla for my copy of the audiobook。 。。。more

A cute book。 This one did not wow me but it was charming。Amelia is a divorced mother of two young children。 She's a very likeable character。 She moves into a new neighbourhood in Houston, Texas with her kids。 She sets up some garden gnomes in her front yard。 The Homeowners Association representative, Carla informs Amalia that these gnomes go against the rules for the neighbourhood。 Are you kidding me? This was a fun read。 I loved the “Game of Gnomes”。 I loved the characters。 Amelia’s friends are amazing, and her and Kyle are so sweet。 I also loved that this place is similar to the woodlands, Texas, which is near where I live。 That was a fun part of the story for me too。

Thank you to Goodreads and the publisher。 I needed a light-hearted book and this was it。 Amelia was divorced with two wonderful, smart kids who were 8 and 10 and loved each other and had each others backs。 She taught them right from wrong (mostly) but didn't want to get involved in a relationship after her divorce since her husband was a real jerk and practically disowned his kids thanks to his new relationship。Enter Kyle, a wonderful, kind, single (of course) man who she met while at the commun Thank you to Goodreads and the publisher。 I needed a light-hearted book and this was it。 Amelia was divorced with two wonderful, smart kids who were 8 and 10 and loved each other and had each others backs。 She taught them right from wrong (mostly) but didn't want to get involved in a relationship after her divorce since her husband was a real jerk and practically disowned his kids thanks to his new relationship。Enter Kyle, a wonderful, kind, single (of course) man who she met while at the community's Easter egg hunt when he was posing as the Easter bunny。 What's not to like? He likes her kids, but is holding back too。 Amelia decides that her kids are #1 priority and steps back from the relationship。 She also fights the HOA and the manager of the community (Carla) and puts her in her place due to a gnone in her front yard which of course is against the bylaws。 "Gnomegate" which she dubs it turns into more involvement in other ways with Carla。 A quick fun read which ended the way I thought it would。 。。。more

The characters were well developed, with depth, witty banter, chemistry, and well written。 Amelia extremely likable; Kyle extremely likable; who doesn’t love kids; however, Roger, I absolutely despised。 The author’s writing style was complex, emotional, endearing, and intriguing。 I highly recommend this audiobook that is being released later this month, the book is already out, but I believe the audiobook is better。 。。。more

I dnf’d at 75%。 I tried。 I just couldn’t get into it in any way。 The constant pop culture references, repetitive statements over and over and over again。 The book had so much unnecessary descriptions and should have been so much shorter。 The awkward conversations between Amelia and her friends/kids/Kyle were all just so unbelievable。 It was cringeworthy and I wished it would stop but it never did。 The story droned on and on and never seemed to truly have a solid plot line。 Yes, Amelia was fighti I dnf’d at 75%。 I tried。 I just couldn’t get into it in any way。 The constant pop culture references, repetitive statements over and over and over again。 The book had so much unnecessary descriptions and should have been so much shorter。 The awkward conversations between Amelia and her friends/kids/Kyle were all just so unbelievable。 It was cringeworthy and I wished it would stop but it never did。 The story droned on and on and never seemed to truly have a solid plot line。 Yes, Amelia was fighting with Carla, the villain with the HOA claims, but it kept building and building without any relief or real “vengeance。” At least at 75% in there was nothing being done about Carla。 And the romance between Amelia and Kyle was just flirting and slow banter。 Just didn’t seem like the relationship was ever going to develop。 The narration was odd as well。 The narrator, I felt, often left too long of pauses which caused the flow of the story to be off。 The tone was often flat and when you sped up the audio it tended to sound chopping and not make complete sentences。 Maybe that will be fixed in a final version but it was difficult to stand。 Thank you Netgalley and dreamscape media for this ARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I'm so here for how great a character Amelia is。 She's a newly-single mother whose only goal in life is her kids' happiness and she is doing a brilliant job at it。 I loved reading about kids of divorce being so well adjusted because their mom is there for them。 Sure, there are some hard parts, but Amelia and her support system are there for everything they need。 I also really liked that Goodwin wrote a strong heroine who admits she needs help after realizing that she doesn't have to hold everyth I'm so here for how great a character Amelia is。 She's a newly-single mother whose only goal in life is her kids' happiness and she is doing a brilliant job at it。 I loved reading about kids of divorce being so well adjusted because their mom is there for them。 Sure, there are some hard parts, but Amelia and her support system are there for everything they need。 I also really liked that Goodwin wrote a strong heroine who admits she needs help after realizing that she doesn't have to hold everything in to be strong。 It's a great message to go along with the fun of the gnome wars and Amelia's battle with the horrible management company representative。 And I can't forget the fact that the love interest, Kyle, is a fantastic human being that's way too good to be real, but the fantasy is strong and his interactions with Amelia are as romantic as those with the kids are adorable。I do have to say that the enemies-to-lovers trope that is advertised pretty much everywhere with this one is a lie。 Aside from one minor detail that never really affects their interactions, Amelia and Kyle are never enemies。 It doesn't take away from how great they are together or how much you'll love reading their interactions, but it's important to point out that it did not contain what was advertised。 Happy thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the fun read! 。。。more
